A Day at Acton Scott

Miss Hutton and a group of Year 6 students recently visited Acton Scott Heritage Farm, where they explored the fascinating world of Victorian farming. The children learned about the daily tasks children would have been expected to do on the farm during that time. They had hands-on experiences, including carding wool, drop spinning, and using spinning wheels, which they found both fun and educational.

During the visit, they also had the opportunity to see some of the farm’s animals, such as cows and sheep. The children helped gather wood for a fire, which was then lit on the farmhouse range. They gained insight into how the farmer and his family would have lived in the farmhouse during the Victorian era.

It was an enjoyable and informative day, and the children thoroughly appreciated their time at the farm.
