Welcome to Stokesay Primary School

Spring 26.

During our Year 5 class topic day exploring the census, the children did an excellent job of dressing up as members of the local community. From builders to firefighters, and vets to sportspeople, the classroom was full of creativity and excitement.

We carried out our own class census before exploring how the census has changed over time. We finished the day by creating our own Victorian cityscapes using watercolours, linking our learning to the historical context of the census.

This spring term has been full of exciting learning opportunities across the curriculum. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating World Book Day, taking part in a range of fun book-themed activities that helped to inspire a love of reading throughout the classroom. The children enthusiastically shared their favourite stories, explored different authors and enjoyed creative activities linked to books and storytelling.

In Science, the children investigated the force of friction through a variety of practical experiments, exploring how weight affects how far something will travel. The children worked scientifically to make predictions, carry out tests and record their findings.

As part of our Design and Technology learning, we designed and created our own electronic wobble bots. The children showed fantastic creativity and problem-solving skills as they built and tested their moving models, learning how simple electrical components can be used to create movement. It has been a busy and enjoyable term.

PE

This term in PE, we have enjoyed developing our skills in both pickleball and cricket. During our pickleball sessions, the children worked on their coordination, teamwork and control while learning the rules and tactics of the game. In cricket, we practised batting, bowling and fielding skills through a range of fun and active activities. The children showed excellent sportsmanship, resilience and enthusiasm throughout the term, and it has been fantastic to see their confidence and teamwork continue to grow.
