In Year 3/4 this Spring, we have travelled back to Ancient Rome. Our key text for this half-term was Escape from Pompeii. To explore this book the children created artwork of Mount Vesuvius. The children used crayons and black paint to make interesting canvases to scratch pictures onto. In music the children learnt about the history of rock and roll and played the walking bass line to Rock Around the Clock.

To celebrate a range of cultures we held an International Day. The children came dressed in their culture's colours and traditional dress. We spent the day exploring cultures from around the world including making Aboriginal dot paintings.

To support our science topic of plants we visited the Discovery Centre. Whilst there we looked for signs of seed dispersal and investigated growing conditions for plants. The children then showed off their scientific knowledge, sequencing the life cycle of plants.
