Welcome to Stokesay Primary School

Autumn 25.

For topic day this term the children travelled back in time to explore life in the past.

We began by learning all about Skara Brae, an incredible Stone Age village discovered in the Orkney Islands. The children were fascinated by the archaeological discoveries found there — from ancient stone houses to tools, jewellery and everyday objects that give us clues about how people once lived.

Inspired by these historical finds, we then created our own Iron Age-style jewellery. The children carefully shaped and indented their designs into metallic card, imagining how people might have used symbols to show identity or status.

To finish our day, the children designed their own family shields, using bold colours and meaningful images to represent the people and values that are important to them.

It was a brilliant day full of creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning.

The Year 3 and 4 children took part in a fantastic Cross Country event in Church Stretton. Every pupil gave their all — from the moment the race began to the final sprint across the finish line. Their determination, encouragement for one another, and positive attitudes made us all incredibly proud.

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and red cheeks as they crossed the line, proving that effort and enthusiasm matter just as much as results. We’re especially proud of one of our children, who finished as the fastest Year 4 girl in the whole competition — an amazing achievement!

A huge well done to all of our Year 3 and 4 runners — you represented Stokesay brilliantly and truly embodied our school values of determination, teamwork and community.

Year 3/4 had an action-packed day at RAF Cosford this term!

Rocket Workshop
The children explored how rockets work, learned about thrust and air resistance, and even launched their own rockets. Lots of excitement and some very impressive flights!

Car & Parachute Workshop
In this workshop the children designed small cars, attached parachutes, and then launched them off a top alleyway to test how drag affects speed and landing. Huge laughs, great teamwork, and some very dramatic crashes!

Museum Tour & Cockpit Experience
Everyone enjoyed a guided tour of the museum, spotting planes from different periods and hearing stories behind them. The absolute highlight was climbing into the cockpit of a real aircraft — every single child had a go and loved it.

The children were fantastic all day: polite, curious, and a real credit to Stokesay.
