Welcome to Stokesay Primary School

Autumn 25.

For topic day this term the children travelled back in time to explore life in the past.

We began by learning all about Skara Brae, an incredible Stone Age village discovered in the Orkney Islands. The children were fascinated by the archaeological discoveries found there — from ancient stone houses to tools, jewellery and everyday objects that give us clues about how people once lived.

Inspired by these historical finds, we then created our own Iron Age-style jewellery. The children carefully shaped and indented their designs into metallic card, imagining how people might have used symbols to show identity or status.

To finish our day, the children designed their own family shields, using bold colours and meaningful images to represent the people and values that are important to them.

It was a brilliant day full of creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning.
