In Maths, Reception have been consolidating their knowledge of the composition of numbers to 5. They have spent time discovering that each number has a value of 1 more than the previous number. They have enjoyed using the cubes and paint to make and order their own towers of 1-5. The children have also spent time composing and decomposing numbers and seeing that numbers are made up of smaller numbers e.g. 3 + 2 = 5 altogether. The children also used the '5 little speckled frogs' nursery rhyme to support their learning of this.
Spring Animals
This term, Reception have enjoyed exploring the topics 'Spring and Farming'. To support our learning of farm animals and their young, we have had visits from puppies, chicks and finished the term with a trip to Park Hall Farm. The children had a fantastic time petting lambs, rabbits, guinea pigs and a pony!
Outdoor Learning
Reception children have been participating in Outdoor Learning sessions with Mr Lockley this term. They have taken part in various activities in the outside area that include digging, climbing, jumping, crawling and balancing. They have particularly loved spending time around the campfire where they have been taught how to move safely around the fire and they have even had a go at toasting a marshmallow, making popcorn and hot chocolates!
